A celebration
This shirt celebrates a special place where many of my design classmates and I ate. Teşekkür ederim and grazie di tutto!
Initial Thought
As with most grad school students, there's that one food place one associates with reliable, tasty, and cheap.
Tamer Kebap is on the way back home for many of the cohort. I passed by it most evenings (or early mornings) after a long day at school.
We celebrated late nights, birthday meals, impromptu gatherings, etc. I'd often run into a classmate or two and just chat or join in on the meal.
I miss that place. When I left Bergamo in the early fall of 2025, I wish I could have said goodbye with something tangible, especially considering many of the 24 IDP students ate there regularly.
I had something in the back of my mind like a t-shirt, celebrating the year and showing thanks. And a photo of all of us with the staff.
"What if I drew with a sewing machine?"
Fast forward to a summer day in '26 in NYC, I was walking from Soho to Central Park, I realized I had a tear in my shorts. I figured it would be a good time to learn how to sew.
I was thinking earlier about what would happen if I switched an interaction in a certain scenario and put it into a different one.
Drawing with a sewing machine would be interesting. While enjoying some time on a bench, I started doing it on the CIID logo. It was silly and awkward, having a pencil fixed in my mouth and moving my notepad around. That is when I noticed the the I's looked like kebap vertical grills.

Iterations
I showed to a few classmates and they had a laugh, smile, and asked if I'd print some out.
Perhaps for those who come to the reunion in '27? We'll see. More importantly, I'd like to give this to the folks at Tamer.
Parting thoughts
Sometimes when I don't follow a Google Map'd plan, something delight comes up. And it can be remixed into something else.
A nice reminder for myself. Can't wait to have Tamer Kebap again and say hello to the crew.
